Sixty minutes of Kim McSwain was exactly what my faculty and I needed this month! Kim has a natural ability to motivate and inspire any audience. She empowers her listeners! With her refreshing reminder that dance teachers really do change lives, Kim brought positivity with a narrative of excellence. One important topic that Kim shared was how to help our students express emotions. Kim has many recommendations on how to help our dancers. With so many of us trying to cope, Kim was able to provide a number of tools and exercises that my faculty and I will use to build up student morale and boost our dancer’s confidence. GOLD! She even shared ways to help our very young students. For me as a business owner, Kim provided a few tips on marketing and advertising. She has a unique view on promoting dance lessons that every dance studio owner should hear. Kim McSwain reminded me of why I love what I do, and she helped fill the cups of my faculty. My favorite quote from Kim that day was, “Confidence is classy!”
Feedback For The Movement
I first met Kim via the Dance Studio Owners Association Inner Circle on a video conferencing call, and I instantly fell in love with her positive energy…

She leaves here just filled and inspired not just only for dancing but I see outside of dancing, I see it in school, I see it for how she treats other people…

This was such an incredible weekend. I felt like Miss Kim and the other instructors gave a validity (plus a cool factor!) to the things I try to teach my 3 girls about dance (it’s not about perfection, don’t compare, dance for you, etc.). Thank you for speaking truth to them about their identities, inspiring them to dig deep inside themselves to discover the source of their love for dance, and encouraging genuine teamwork and support of their peers. I wish they could experience this more than 1 time a year! It was beautiful, life-changing work. Thank you for sharing yourselves and your gifts!

Could listen to Kim all day every day – she reinforces my belief systems especially on topics where I’m doubting myself, because the right thing isn’t always the easy or more popular thing. I always walk away from her talks feeling more connected to my “why”. I also feel that sometimes we become so business focused and profit focused that we forget that we’re dealing with children and that it is ok to love that end of it too. Kim speaks like someone who still loves being in the classroom with the kids – I love that!

Dear Miss Kim, thank you for everything you do for our dancers. Each time I come I get to know my daughter better. She shares more of herself that she wouldn’t even know without the thought provoking discussions you start. I am grateful to have a confident 11 year old and I recognize dance has a great impact on that personal strength. I also must thank you for the scholarship you awarded her last year. The recognition from you meant the world to her. This year, it means the world to me. This Movement workshop is between paychecks as I am changing jobs. Somehow the gift you gave us last year was the perfect gift this year as well. Thank you for being part of my dancer’s life. Love always…

Kim, this was awesome! I got so much out of one of your calls about Summer camps 2 years ago in the IC. It completely shifted my mindset around our camps and around making it the most amazing, special and magical experience for our kiddos. From there I was able to get super clear on my marketing and messaging. We’ve sold out our camps over the last two Summers, and are already over half full as of today for our 2020 Summer camps and I only opened registration 2 weeks ago. Now I’m going to add “lighting” to my camps this year!!! Thanks, Kim!

We just wrapped up our first experience with Changing Lives at Pure Movement Dance, and I can proudly say that the lives of our dancers were definitely changed for the better. I would describe the experience more like a retreat for our Dance Company. Going into the weekend, I questioned if I made the right decision making our mandatory convention in house as opposed to a hotel ballroom convention. By the end of the first day, I knew I had done exactly what our team needed. They weren’t only dancing to better themselves individually, they were dancing to become a better team! They bonded, they loved, they cried, they encouraged, and they grew. Most importantly, they felt important and left this weekend happy and motivated to take on the world. Bravo to Kim, thank you for bringing your love into our studio. Thank you Michelle for being absolutely incredible, and offering your time and talent to our dancers, and thank you Aunt Lindsey for coordinating a successful weekend and accommodating us as we plan for our future with Changing Lives. Highly recommend.
